What I’m writing here is just to test out the new host. Thank you, Laughing Squid for offering affordable month-to-month web hosting. As much fun as running the site off of someone else’s laptop in the basement was, hopefully this new option will be a lot smoother (and faster!) than before.

Of all the drawings I have done so far, I had the most fun with this one. I know that it’s just a bunch of color splotches against a dark-gray background, but the idea I was trying to bring forth was more engrossing than just color. “Outer Space” has, since childhood, been one of my favorite parts of the great unknown that is our universe. The Esoteric Whale is traveling to places uncharted — who can say that he won’t find a place as visually alluring as this? He’s going somewhere that cetaceans are fundamentally unable to reach.

Also, space is fun.
